Kurukuru, by the way, is, I am told, an extremely rude word in one of the ethnic African languages. It is a possibility that Oomagoolie is a very inaccurate, bowdlerised tranalation of Kurukuru.

Re:RSPB, Woodland Trust and other charities slaughtering wildlife by the million. - 2003/02/19 10:32 conservation organisations` policies are inappropriate or incorrect, but the very breadth of this attack suggests that the person making it is clueless. We gardeners `slaughter` the very organisms that we have nurtured- by thinning, moving, replanting, etc. So what? If in the absence of a natural predator then the deer population expands and so prevents natural regeneration of woodland and death by starvation, what would your policy be? specific chemicals- just used the babytalk `highly toxic chemicals`. Maybe that gave them a clue.

Re:RSPB, Woodland Trust and other charities slaughtering wildlife by the million. - 2003/02/19 11:53 Do "we" gardeners get public donations for protecting these organisms you speak of? you seem to have grave comprehension problems, do you cook in aluminium pans? doing a little research on google. It will reveal that groups like the RSPB are actually bedfellows with the hunting fraternity, they want and need large numbers of deer to sustain income from hunting. Shooting large numbers of animals year in, year out merely causes the population to actually greatly increase (rebound effect). Perhaps a simpleton could explain to us all why shooting deer for the last hundred years has had no effect on the population? the only way to control deer is to manage the population properly, culling is not management, unless you are into shooting wildlife, then it merely sustains a sick pleasure. hide? Now why should someone want to hide what they are up to with public donations?
Just as well all of us are not as ignorant.
