re:Question about the salt (is there someone on salt free diet? - 2006/04/16 06:27
Post-meal lack of energy may be due to a high-starch meal that causes food-induced hypoglycemia, gluten or high-gluten flour as an ingredient, added MSG, indigestible combinations (concentrated protein and concentrated starch; a -very- common error), and maybe other factors. Try making the same meal at home to see if the problem is reproduced. Then, the same meal less one ingredient, and rotate this to see if you can pin in down to one ingredient. Or, you could consume a 'meal' of each ingredient separately and see which one knocks you out. It is measured in milliequivalents per liter. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003481.htm For sodium (atomic weight = 23): milliequivalents/liter = (grams/liter)/23. So, grams/liter = milliequivalents/liter*23. Probably because it is not being added to their food (at least not at the levels that adults do). Most people addict themselves to salt, but you can wean yourself off it if you want.
