Re:Vegetarian Wines - 2005/06/11 23:53 On the other hand, most wines are cleared by using gelatin (an animal product). There are some vegan wines around, but I could only tell about those in Finland. Most are local wines.
Then there are Israeli wines which are "kosher". They are clear of animal products. Of course, some people might want _not_ to drink israeli wine, though.

Re:Vegetarian Wines - 2005/06/12 02:01 Marks and Spencer also label their wines if they`re vegetarian .. someone told me that the reason a wine might not be vegetarian is that certain animal (or fish) derived additives are used to make wine clear .. is that true?

Re:Vegetarian Wines - 2005/06/12 02:57 sometimes gelatin or isinglass is used to do this. (Isinglass is made from the bladder of the sturgeon fish.)
