Should i take Protein Powder and multivitamins. Help! - 2005/05/23 18:51 I have been vegetarian for about a year, but my lifestyle is really busy and I just dont have the time right now to ensure that i`m getting a really good balance of nutrients. And I also feel I`m eating too many carbs and not enough protein.
I have decided to go on protein powder and multivitamins. Does anyone have info or experience on these?
How often do you take protein powder shakes/etc? Are they mostly for bodybuilders or vegetarians too? And do I take them with meals since I`ve heard they are very concentrated and filling anyway.
Also, more info on multivitamins
Thanks!

Re:Should i take Protein Powder and multivitamins. Help! - 2005/05/23 20:55 The average American (or any industrialized society) vegetarian consumes 2 times the protein their body needs each day. The odds are that you are getting sufficient protein and do not need to supplement.
I take a multivitamin called "one a day". It does the job, and it`s reasonably priced.. There is no need to buy a bottle of those fancy-shmancy, yuppie vitamins that cost a small fortune.
Ideally, you should really try to improve your diet. The kind of food you consume has a significant impact on your health. Vitamins and supplements shouldn`t be used as a replacement for real food.
